Ashen Crown Saga

Ashen Crown Saga is a proper role-playing game that respects your time. The battles are turn-based and readable, so you can plan a fight in a few taps and then get back to the story. And the story is where it shines, with characters that grow on you across a longer campaign.

Building your party is where I spent most of my thinking. Each character has a clear role, and mixing them up to counter a tough boss actually works. There's a bit of a learning curve, but the game teaches you gently instead of dumping menus on you.

It's a bigger commitment than most phone games, and that's fine. This is one to play in longer sessions at home rather than in short bursts, though it saves reliably enough that you can dip in and out.
